Internship: Introduction...

When a young ministerial graduate leaves college or seminary, the probability is great that he has no experience to deal with situations in the church. Things that he has learned could not help him much to do pastoral work. But this does not mean that the seminary has failed to do its duty. Everything that he has acquired from the seminary has to do only with tools that will help him to learn more things related to the church and its mission. Pastoral works need to be learned in the field, not at the seminary. Of course, there are practicums to be completed but those are not enough, simply because time is limited to acquire all pastoral skills. For that reason, pastoral internship is important for the young ministerial graduate.

The importance of pastoral internship is understood by many denominations. They even have their own well-structured internship program.

This is a reflection of the task to pastoral internship of a particular denomination in southeast asian context.
